Rev. Alexander Hamilton
Email:  Alex@PastorAlex.com
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Alexander, the only son of Arthur & Beatrice J. Hamilton, was singing full recitals around L.A. at the age of three, and at four began his piano studies in the L.A. Conservatory of Music & Arts.

At the age of eight He became a private student of the late great Hall Johnson (the writer & arranger of so many well-known Negro Spirituals) who taught Alex how to write arrangements and scores for choirs & orchestras.   This got Alex accepted into a special accelerated program at the University Of Southern California where he'd completed all of his college Music Theory courses by the time he graduated Virgil Junior High school.  He holds a B.A. in Music from Dallas State College and a Doctorate Of Theology (Th.D) from Next Dimension Bible College.

A professional musician since the age of 9, Alexander has played and/or conducted and/or arranged for:  Lola Falana, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Bill Cosby, The Friends Of Distinction, Leslie Uggams, Lou Rawls, Esther Rolle, The Staple Singers, Barry White, Solomon Burke, Joel Grey, Sammy Davis Jr., Ben Vereen, Liza Minelli, Mabel King, Natalie Cole, Etta James, James Cleveland, Cassietta George, Bessie Griffin, Shirley Caesar, Mahalia Jackson, and many others.  With Eddie Kendrix, Alex co-wrote James Cleveland’s million-seller Gospel hit "He's A Miracle Worker”, and he is also the arranger and conductor of Aretha Franklin's Grammy-winning "Amazing Grace" album that came out in 1972.

As a major part of his music ministry, Alex serves as director of three well-known community singing ensembles: The Voices Of Inspiration Community Choir of Compton, CA (since 1973);  The New Generation Singers of Pasadena (since 1980);  and Immanuel Gospel Community Choir of the L.A. Wilshire District (since 1992).

A Baptist Minister since 1977, Alex is a Bible teacher specializing in Prophecy-related Scriptures.  Since 1986 he has been the regular Sunday night Bible class teacher at Commuity Baptist Church of Compton, CA.  His books: "Passover, A Christian Perspective" and "Understanding Scriptures--A Guide To Bible Study" have received critical acclaim; and through his five-volume workbook & cassette tape series on Revelation he has Bible students in over 92 cities around the world.  He is also a staff professor teaching Bible Theology at Next Dimension Bible College of Ontario, CA.

While working as musical director for a gospel brunch in April, 2002, Alex met Alicia, who at the time was the producer of the event. They were married the following November and their family includes her two children, Paris and Milan (Alex has one grown son, Samuel Von Lewis).  Alicia is now the owner and executive director of www.TRNTV.com, a broadband television station specializing in "Faith & Family" programming.

In June of 2008 Alex was called to pastorship of Community Baptist Church, and he and his family reside in Los Angeles.

And, A Personal Note:

Hello!  I'm Alex.

I`m a native L.A. guy with "Old School" values, and proud of it!

I like the "Lakers", but the only sport I truly love to watch on TV is football, and the only games I
absolutely must see (live or VCR) are those in which the  RAIDERS are playing (I`ve been a fan
since the franchise began--much of my wardrobe is black).

I love roller-coasters, I love to laugh, and I've learned to not take anything in this world
--including me--too seriously.

Recently, my mother died at the age of 95 (Praise The Lord for her long & happy life!).  She'd been a
music teacher and choir director all her life but in her later years she couldn't get out very much, so
I sat down at the piano and played some of her favorite old hymns (like "Holy, Holy, Holy") on tapes
and  took them with me when I visited her so we could sit and sing to them together -- it will
always be among my fondest memories of her.  When friends of mine started asking me for copies
of the tapes I realized that others might make good use of them in a lot of ways, so I went
into the studio and digitally recorded them on CDs so more people could have them.

Now, through GMI's  "Gospel Music Tracks" web site, they're available to you!

I've recorded new tracks a few months ago and I think you`ll like them if you like
"Old School" Gospel Music. (Let me know, O.K.?)

Again, thanks for your interest, and I pray God`s blessings on you and yours!

P.S.:  I keep the 3 photos below around to prove that I actually was cute once upon a time!

....And with me in the photo below is my wife and family.
SHE'S still cute TODAY!
